General Questions
Q: What is your photographic style?A: We shoot in a photojournalistic style, meaning we capture images documenting the events of your day in an unobtrusive way. This style of photography tells a story. We shoot in a traditional style for the formal portraits.
Q: How does payment work?
A: We require a 50% retainer in order to reserve the day of your event, due within 14 days of the contract issue date. The remainder of the balance is due no later than 30 days before the day of your event. We accept cash, checks, money orders, and Paypal.
Q: Do you have liability insurance?
A: Yes, we hold a million-dollar liability insurance policy, and can supply you with copies of our certificate upon request.
Q: Flash photography is not permitted for some parts of my event. Will this be a problem?
A: We understand some locations do not allow flash photography, and we will observe any such restrictions that are imposed during your event. Although we do not necessarily need to use flashes, please understand that some pictures may appear dark or grainy.
Q: What kind of equipment do you use?
A: We use professional-grade Nikon cameras and lenses. A complete inventory of our equipment is available upon request.
Image Copyright Questions
Q: Who is the legal owner of the pictures taken at my event?A: All images captured are legally owned by and copyrighted to Brian Cesario Photography.
Q: What are “copyright privileges”?
A: We mean that you, the client, have the right to print the pictures we take at your event for your personal use only. You can use any photo printing services (like those offered in your local drugstore) and give copies of the prints to your family members.
Q: Can I put the digital picture files on my personal website? A: Yes, but we ask that you please give us appropriate credit for these pictures.
Q: I noticed that there is some very fine print in the lower right-hand corner of my pictures. What is this?
A: This print is known as a watermark. It designates the image as the legal property of Brian Cesario Photography. When placed in a frame or an album, however, it is usually covered up.
Q: What is meant by commercial use of images?
A: Any instance in which money, goods, or services will be exchanged for your pictures is considered commercial use. For example, entering a picture into a photography contest would be considered commercial use. Using pictures for advertising or marketing purposes would also be considered commercial use. We encourage you to discuss how you plan to use your images with your photographer ahead of time.
Policy Questions
Q: Is a retainer necessary? A: Yes. We cannot reserve the date of your event without a retainer.Q: Must I sign a contract? A: Yes. We cannot provide any services without a signed contract.
Q: Can we make changes to the contract after it has been signed?
A: Any requests for changes must be submitted to us in writing no later than six weeks prior to your event. We will review your request and determine if the changes can be made. Please understand we cannot guarantee that all requests will be honored.
Q: Are my guests allowed to take pictures during my event?
A: Yes; however, if you plan to have us shoot formal (posed) portraits, we request that guests refrain from taking pictures during this time.
Q: Why do you require that no other fee-for-service photographers be present at my event?
A: There are a few reasons for this. First, other professional grade equipment may interfere with the operation of our equipment. Second, we cannot compete for your time and attention. Third, having to work around another professional photographer is cumbersome and difficult, and may result in missed photo opportunities.
Q: What is a Third Party Payor, and why must this person sign the contract?
A: A Third Party Payor is someone other than the client who pays all (or part) of the bill. This person must sign the contract to indicate that (s)he understands that you are the client, and therefore we will remain answerable to you only.
